Former Randolph-Clay High School Head Football Coach Jim Mcfather pictured above with former Randolph-Clay H.S. Football player Thomas Davis originally from Shellman, Georgia, Davis known in High School as Pokey, spent 4 years in High School Football 1998-2001 at Randolph-Clay where Jim McFather was the head coach. Your editor Scott Mullis spent over 15 years doing radio play by play for Randolph-Clay High School Football up in Georgia. Thomas Davis who over his 4 year High School Football career played almost every position on Offense at some time or another and played Defense too. I remember one Friday night in Blakely, Georgia when Thomas got over 300 all purpose yards on Offense and special teams....Coach Jim McFather reminded your editor that Thomas got over 500 all purpose yards against Albany, Ga. High School one Friday night during his High School Football career. Thomas, played defense at Georgia at that time the SEC started putting the best athletes on Defense- it was like a New wave of how to play defense, defenders that could go sideline to sideline it made Offensive teams start attacking defenses differently. I think Thomas could have played RB at the next level on Offense, but playing Defense and playing linebacker may have lengthened his current long NFL career. also a couple of years ago Thomas won the Walter Payton NFL man of the Year Award. I remember at Randolph-Clay Thomas had this look in his eye and expression on his face. I remember in High School at Randolph-Clay It was either before a game or after the game somewhere on the road I went into a Locker room with coach McFather and the players were in there and there was something different about him he had a look in his eyes you could tell he cared and he was serious and he loved Football...I will never forget that look in his eyes. Thomas Davis went on to a 3 year playing career at the University of Georgia playing Linebacker as a Georgia Bulldog from 2002-2004. Thomas Davis was drafted in 2005 and is still playing For the Carolina Panthers the team that drafted him 13 years ago. Incredible longevity and another Pro Bowl appearance for Davis for the NFC down in Orlando. Final Score of the Pro Bowl- AFC 24 NFC 23 Final Great picture of former coach and player pictured above at the Pro Bowl in our Neighbors Page 1. J.C. pictured above is a freelance writer and PR guy with the Big J Report "that's him catching the Big Fish up in South Alabama", he fishes in South Georgia also. J.C will be chiming into the Neighbors section from time to time....JC knows fishing, JC knows football, JC knows the music and concert scene also. So stayed tuned here to the Neighbors page for JC's Reports. HS Football Neighbors section, Some HS School Football Score's...You can find HS football Scores for North Florida in our Sports Section, however some HS Football scores from South Georgia and South Alabama can be found here in the Neighbors 1 page. High School Football will kickoff again in September. Right Now Its NFL Off-season....QB Kurt Cousins perhaps the biggest Free Agent Prize out there...Look for Cousins to want to sign with Minnesota...Looks like our free lance writer was correct. Jacksonville elected to stay with QB Blake Bortles and put big money into their O-Line in LG Andrew Norwell, the free agent Jacksonville snuck out of Carolina. because of the tremendous Defense that Minnesota plus it looks like Kirk Cousins gigantic 3 year contarct is fullly guaranteed at approximately 84 whopping Million Dollars. Denver has a pretty good Defense too..But John Elway might not want to offer the money it will take to get Cousins, perhaps because of cap numbers. UPDATE from reports Denver is that they are signing last years Vikings QB Case Keenum. Teams that were also in the hunt the Browns nearly 100 million dollars under the cap,the Browns traded for QB Tyrod Taylor. Other potential landing spots for Kirk Cousins made alternate plans, the Buffalo Bills signed free agent QB A.J. McCarron back up Cincinnati and former Bama QB under Nick Saban. Look for the Bills to still try to trade up in the draft and Draft a long term answer at QB but McCarron will get a chance to win the job at least for the first year. How about the NY Jets they signed former Minnesota QB Teddy Bridgewater but the Jets will probably draft a Quarterback AGAIN. Those 6 teams are probably the top 6 NFL teams on the List for Free Agent QB Kirk Cousins services....but as we all know now Cousins has signed a lucrative apparently fully guaranteed deal with the Minnesota Vikings. UPDATE: It is starting to appear that Kirk Cousins may like landing in Minnesota above all other possible landing spots...That appearance of Cousins in Minnesota is now a REALITY. A lot of Bass are biting in Retention Ponds across the area....very good Pond and Creek Fishing. Croaker and Flounder biting as well as some Mullet in the Inlet area's. Great Fishing off the Bridges and the Nassau Sound with a few King Fish being caught as well, when warmer winds move in over the many weekends most of the year...it should mean even more King Fish being caught.
